M U S I C

This is the release certificate  of the Indian movie Hamraz.
The interesting thing about this photo is that the  total length of the photographic film is 5410.33 meters. This is
approximately 5 and half Kilometers.

Lets do simple calculation.

Watch time of this movie should be approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Divide 5410.33 meters by 165 minutes= 32.78 meters per minute
Now divide 32.78 meters by 60 = 0.546 meters per seconds
To convert in millimeter multiply by 1000
Reel speed in cinema = 546 mm/sec
The gauge (width) of film is 35 mm
Now divide 546 mm /sec by 35 mm to calculate frame per second

The answer is 546/35 = 15.6 frames per second

It is clear that at least 15 frames should pass in front of our eyes to
get motion effect of the movie.

It is interesting that to watch a movie of 2 hours & 45 minutes, a reel of
approximately 5 and half kilometer is required.

But such photographic films are now obsolete because of digital recording, editing and playing....

Tansen, a legendary musician and vocalist, has been credited with numerous compositions across the northern realms of the Indian subcontinent. His profound talents extended to instrumental music, where he both popularized and refined various musical instruments.

Revered as one of the most influential figures in the North Indian tradition of Hindustani classical music, Tansen's 16th-century musical explorations and creations ignited inspiration far and wide. Esteemed as the progenitor by many North Indian Gharanas, or regional music schools, Tansen's legacy endures as the foundational cornerstone of their rich musical heritage.

History of Indian Music.
Ancient Traditions: Asian music has roots in ancient civilizations, with some of the earliest forms found in Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley, and China. Instruments like the pipa (China) and the sitar (India) date back thousands of years.
Classic Music: In South Asia, classical music developed into two main styles: Hindustani (North India) and Karnatic (South India). These traditions are characterized by complex raag (melodic frameworks) and taal (rhythmic cycles). In East Asia, Chinese classical music evolved with instruments like the guzheng and erhu, while Japanese gagaku music, performed at the imperial court, dates back to the 7th century.

Folk and Regional Music: Each region has its own folk traditions, reflecting local customs, stories, and daily life. In Central Asia, the nomadic cultures produced unique musical forms, such as Mongolian throat singing. Southeast Asia boasts a rich tapestry of musical traditions, from the gamelan orchestras of Indonesia to the pinpeat ensembles of Cambodia.
Religious and Ceremonial Music.  Music plays a vital role in religious and ceremonial contexts across Asia. Buddhist chants, Hindu bhajans, and Islamic Sufi music are integral to spiritual practices. In Korea, the music of Confucian rituals, known as aak, has been preserved for centuries.

Energy Crisis and Private Power

The last three decades witnessed severe energy crisis in Pakistan and the government has persistently failed to bridge the gap between supply and demand of electric power.  The policy makers, for unknown reasons didn’t pay any attention to green energy such as Hydel, Solar power and Wind energy. The other reason might be the lack of political will of the ruling elites to put serious efforts on projects for ensuring sustainable and continuous power supply.  It is very unfortunate to know that our political elites suffer from a chronic disease, "Poor  decision making".  They normally, opt for ad hoc solutions to any crisis, no matter how costly they are. On the contrary, it is believed that Pakistan is democratic country and political elite comes in power through popular vote.  But they frame policy against the need of population.  Electricity tariff has been a hot topic for debate as energy crisis continues persistently till date. Due to mushroom growth in population resulti

BECOME A WRITER....

If I ask you to start thinking then what will your answer be?  I guess that your answer will be, "Nope..........We are not thinkers.”  But if I ask you another simple question,  “Do you read?”.  Your response, should, certainly be positive.  This is  because you read even if you don’t want to.  How? While travelling for instance, you read bill boards, advertisements, traffic sign boards and many other stuff that hit your sight.  Hence You are a reader and  you should be a thinker too. It is simply impossible to read something without thinking.  So all of us, being able to read, are thinkers in one way or the other.  But don’t worry. I am not talking about great thinkers of times like Plato, Aristotle, Pythagoras or Burton Russell because all of them are the sages of ages. In fact, all of us think in one way or the other but we normally don't think to write what we think.  Principally we should, at least, be able to write in our mother tongue if not in a foreign language or

Knowledge Versus Wisdom

What is Wisdom?   Wisdom is  the ability or result of an ability to think and act utilizing knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight .  It is associated with attributes such as  unbiased   judgment ,  compassion , critical thinking, resolving disputes impartially and  virtues  such as  ethics , counseling, clarity of thinking and good decision making. Knowledge , on the other hand usually, refers to information or awareness that someone has about a subject, whether from education or experience.  It may also comprise of facts and figures gathered regarding any field of interest either in a systematic way or random way for instance a public survey. If you’re talking about sense, insight, or judgment (things that concern how we process or act on knowledge or experience), the word to reach for is wisdom . But, on the contrary, if you’re dealing strictly with information, understanding, or awareness, the word you’re looking for is knowledge.   Normally wisd
